Explore your creativity and connect with our maritime location while learning to make your basket from recycled crab fishing rope. You will be provided with materials and up-close instruction by Beach Basket creator and artist Susan Spence . These small, friendly classes are held in the Marie Powell Gallery and Workshop, overlooking the picturesque Port of Ilwaco and the Ilwaco fishing fleet.

If you would like to review a basic single crochet stitch (the stitch we use for our baskets) here is a link single crochet stitch. It isn’t necessary but it will make things a bit easier. If you have a stick, your own rope or anything you would like to incorporate please bring it along.

Please note:
Making baskets is strenuous on the hands.
Instruction is given for right handers ( I just can’t seem to reverse the process).
A non-compete is required.
Payment is due upon signup.
Non refundable 2 weeks before class (unless for COVID concerns).

COIVID Precautions: Proof of vaccine required. Masks required if CDC says so.
