About Marie

Marie Powell has been an artist on the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State for many years.  After a 19 year high school teaching career, she now devotes her time to creating her beautiful pastels, oils and mixed media work, all influenced by her love of the Pacific Northwest.

She includes a variety of subjects in her work, ranging from waterfowl and marinescapes to florals to total  abstraction.  Her unique style incorporates strong contrasts, vivid colors, collage, print making techniques and a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor and soft pastel.

Working both in New Zealand and at home at the Port of Ilwaco, Washington, she paints originals with are supurb interpretations of the flowers, birds and landscapes of both regions.

Marie and Randy Powell own and operate Shoalwater Cove Gallery, presently located dockside at the Port of Ilwaco. Started in 1992, the gallery features the artwork of Marie Powell, and also offers high quality custom picture framing.
